HTTPS protocol encrypts all communication within a website. This is important for not just your your business, but also the people that visit your website. You may have heard that Google ranks secure sites higher than non-secure sites. The importance of a secure site will be even more important with the release of Chrome version 62 next month, when Google’s Chrome browser will display the message “Not Secure” in the address bar when users visit your webpage.
What does this mean to Pressero customers?
If you are offering online credit card processing on your website, you should be fine since we require that a SSL certificate is purchased and installed on those sites. If you are not currently offering credit card processing, you could be at risk. All B2B sites require a form submission of their username and password, and many B2C sites have some type of form on their website to collect data. To know for sure, go to your site and look at the URL in the address bar. If it doesn’t begin with “https”, your site isn’t secure.
What do you need to do to make your site secure?
There are controls for setting SSL options for the domain names your websites use within the Pressero Admin, at no additional charge. To do this, go to: Admin > Sites > [sitename] > Settings > Domains to set any site to be secure. Select here to find more detail on our support portal.
