Aleyant is committed to supporting the communities where our employees live and work. As part of this commitment, Aleyant supports the Maharashtra Fellowship for the Deaf (MFD) located in Pune, India, where part of our support and development team resides. Founded in 1987 by Lillian Doerksen, MFD is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to serving deaf children through quality education, vocational training and holistic care, in an effort to assist students to become self-reliable, contributing members in the community. Founders Arvind and Tara Meshramkar, along with the support of around 45 teachers, staff and volunteers currently manage this center that houses and cares for 103 boys and girls in Pune and another center in the city of Aurangabad which is 225 kms from Pune that houses 37 girls. All children range from 5 – 17 years old.
With Aleyant’s support, MFD is able to provide full-time care and cover costs for 10 of their children on an annual basis. During a recent visit to their facility, we witnessed first-hand this generosity in action. Below are a few pictures from our visit to MFD. From the soccer and cricket games, to the cooking and sewing classes to building modern technology and language skills, it is clear to see how the focus is on the whole child at MFD.
