Tajamar and Aleyant Systems Work Together to Provide More Relevant Vocational Training in Spain

In today’s fast-paced business climate, there is a need to provide professional training that is closer to the reality of the workplace so that students leave school better prepared for what businesses demand, provide more value and transition into the workforce more smoothly.

To achieve this goal, many schools are discussing the idea of dual training, which focuses mainly on placing students into a company for longer periods of  time for hands-on training. This is an effective method, but not the only one. Tajamar, Spain’s premier vocational school for print technology, is committed to bringing businesses to their training center. The objective is the same: Ensure that students have knowledge of real-world problems that companies face and learn how to solve them, or in other words, “learning by doing.”

Similarly, Aleyant Systems and Tajamar are joining forces to provide students with real-world training in the web-to-print industry.

In this joint program, students at the highest level of Tajamar’s Design and Editorial Production Program will receive training from Aleyant similar to which businesses receive when they purchase Aleyant Pressero™ software. Because this software functions in a cloud model, training is conveniently completed remotely with students. Once students have completed training from Aleyant, they are put in contact with printers who are planning to incorporate a web-to-print business model. These printers then provide the students with an overview of their business including their product portfolio and current customers, as well as communicate their expectations for the training role. With this information, the students work in groups to propose different solutions the printer could offer its customers using Pressero. Students will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of Pressero while also working on projects with actual clients and assisting in finding practical solutions to real-world problems. During this stage of the students’ work, they can rely on the assistance of Aleyant Spain to resolve any concerns that may arise.

Once the training period is completed, the students will create and present final proposals based on their suggestions on how their print shop can best utilize Pressero for their customer base. The printers will then select a winner who will have the opportunity to publish their winning proposal as well as begin to implement the students’ suggestions in their print shop.

This program is a coordinated effort among training centers, suppliers and production companies with the goal of better preparing students for the workforce – a true win-win for everyone involved. The students gain a deeper training with up-to-date tools and real-world job experience. For the manufacturer, this is an opportunity to showcase their product as well as collaborate with professionals who can utilize it. For businesses, this is an opportunity to have new talent think of possible solutions for their business.

Those businesses that are interested in participating in this project can contact Tajamar at itgt@tajamar.es or Aleyant Systems at abaixeras@aleyant.com.

We hope that this initiative will be the beginning of many similar programs to come that will see greater involvement from training centers, suppliers, and production companies with the objective of improving training of Tajamar students, while also positively impacting the employability of the students and the competiveness of  participating businesses.
