Last week, our developers rolled out a new version of Aleyant eDocBuilder™, our online design and variable data publishing system. These are the two new features included in the release that we think you’ll be most excited about:
Response Sets Available to Multiple Templates
Many clients have asked for the opportunity to create response sets for their web-to-print templates just one time and then be able to apply those response sets to additional templates. Based on this feedback, we’ve added this option. This is especially helpful when creating several templates for a B2B customer with multiple locations, for example, if the customer wants to make the addresses from five different locations available on their letterhead, business card, and envelope templates. In the past, the response sets for the addresses needed to be managed in all three templates separately. Now, you can create the response sets one time and apply them to the other two templates. If the address of a location changes, you only need to make that change in the Response Sets area of the first template.
To apply the response sets from one template to another, first set up the response sets in one template. Make sure you commit changes when you are done. In your subsequent templates’ master PDFs, give any fields that should use response sets the same name as they have in the original template’s master PDF. In the Response Sets page of the subsequent templates, select the first template’s name from the Other Template dropdown menu in the Use Response Sets From Other Template area. Then click “Use.” Don’t forget to commit changes when you are finished.
Convert to VB Button in HTML Field Scripting Area
eDocBuilder has long offered both the simpler HTML field scripting option as well as the more powerful, but more complex, VB scripting. Although VB script offers many more powerful options, many clients have reported difficulty in changing their HTML field scripting to VB script. We’re pleased to announce that converting your HTML field script to VB script is now as easy as clicking a button! In the HTML Markup area of a field’s Field Scripting tab, you’ll see a button that says “Convert to VB.” Simply click this button to automatically convert your HTML script to VB.
There is not a button to convert your VB script back to HTML. This is because VB script can use many powerful options that cannot be translated into HTML. However, if you re-select HTML markup as the script type, you will be taken back to your original HTML script.
Our developers are always hard at work bringing great new features to both eDocBuilder and the Aleyant Pressero™ web-to-print solution. Make sure to stay tuned to our blog to hear about all the latest features as they are released!
